My name is Melissa, and my story begins with a passion for traveling and a deep love for our planet, enjoying life & connecting with incredible people. This passion eventually led me to create my own small business “Bigger Than Us-Travels,” a platform dedicated to responsible tourism & ecotourism.
Growing up, I was fortunate to travel to various parts of the world, from the crystal clear beaches of Aruba to the lush rainforests of Costa Rica, and the charming streets of the Netherlands. Each journey was filled with awe-inspiring landscapes, rich cultures, incredible people, and unforgettable experiences. BUT…
In 2021, when I decided to visit Costa Rica, I immediately fell in love with its nature. The lush rainforests, kind locals, and vibrant wildlife captivated my heart. It was a transformative experience that deepened my appreciation & love for the natural world.Â
The following year, in 2022, I organized a short trip to Europe and Africa with some friends. Our journey took us to Italy, Morocco, Croatia, and Portugal. One of the highlights was our adventure into the Sahara Desert. Standing under the vast expanse of the desert sky, I felt a profound connection to the earth and a sense of awe that was truly life-changing. I also felt an incredible connection with all the locals living in each destination.

From travel coaching to planning & consultancy, we provide comprehensive support to help you make the most of your travels.
Our personalized trips are designed with care & attention to detail. We go beyond the usual travel planning to offer continuous support during your journey, making sure you feel heard and valued at every step of your journey. Our clients often tell us how our tips and insights help them discover hidden gems, things to take into account and experiences they would have otherwise missed.
We are a small company operated by only one person at the moment. We are growing to become a better company, provide quality service to our customers, and expand our team. As we look to the future, our goal is to expand our offerings and continue fostering meaningful connections through travel. We are excited to introduce small group trips, travel retreats, workshops, and volunteer opportunities that align with our core values of Nature, Culture, Adventure, and Wellness.
I knew I wanted others to feel the same way I did when traveling. I wanted people to connect with each other and their environment, to have meaningful experiences that enrich their lives, understand what is truly important in life, and foster a deeper appreciation for the world around them.Â
However, I also witnessed all the negative impacts of tourism such as damaged ecosystems, cultural erosion, and communities struggling to maintain their identity.Â
It was then that I realized travel should be more than just visiting new places or destinations; it should be about making mindful decisions, connecting deeply with the environment, and supporting the local communities that welcome us.
“Bigger Than Us-Travels” was born out of this vision. I wanted to create a platform where travelers could embark on meaningful journeys, make responsible choices, and truly connect with nature and culture.Â
Our Mission is simple: to offer travel experiences that enrich your life while preserving and honoring the places you visit.
